How do I know if I have a complex mental health disorder?

If you are experiencing thoughts, feelings, emotions or destructive behaviors & habits that are negatively impacting your life, you may experiencing a complex issue. If you feel that something has been wrong for a while now, but you can’t quite put your finger on the cause, this is usually a good indicator.

How do I know seeing a new counsellor is worth my while?

Mindfulness & Acceptance Commitment therapy (ACT) with other counsellors just wasn’t cutting it? If this is not your first time seeing a counsellor, you may be quite skeptical whether any counsellor can help you.. Counsellor’s don’t hold the magical answer to the questions you seek… most likely because, there are no definitive answers to the questions you’re asking. This is largely why people get stuck in a loop. A counsellor’s role is to challenge you with better questions, so you can develop better answers. It’s about giving you the skills, to better understand yourself & the people you have relationships with. Our philosophy is what dictates our beliefs, and in extent, our habits that shape our life. Change your philosophies… and you will change you life.

Is counselling worth doing if someone else in my life is the problem?

Absolutely. Learning how to deal with the things that are out of your control, is one of the biggest skills needed in overcoming and managing emotions. A mentally healthy life isn’t about trying to control what happens to us, but rather how we react to what happens to us. Being able to find comfort in the uncomfortable, & learning how to stop trying to control the uncontrollable, is a fundamental is eradicating most mental health issues associated with both rational and irrational anxiety & depression.

Should I be speaking to a counsellor to learn how to solve someone else’s issues?

Though a counsellor can provide you skills and knowledge to better understand & deal with someone in your life battling disorders, a counsellor can only help you better manage the issue. However, the person whom is dealing with psychological issue in majority of circumstances, would need to seek direct help if they wish to eradicate the issue.
